Established in 1995, Indonesia Export is a wholesale exporter of furniture (teak, mahogany, rattan, bamboo), clothing (sarongs, dresses, and much more), jewelry, crafts, gifts and more from Bali, Java and across Indonesia.
Buyers from around the world visit us regularly to meet with carvers, furniture makers, clothing suppliers, homeware designers and producers to buy existing stock and produce their own designs for sale in the US, Europe and around the world.
We currently offer over 14,000 different models in our wholesale catalogue and, while that is a huge number of different products, it represents only a fraction of the handmade goods that we export every year – many of them ‘off catalogue’ — sourced for a special project or made to order in Bali, Java or Lombok for exclusive sales runs.
Our customer profiles are as follows:
First time, small and suitcase importers of Bali products
Everyone starts small – just like every journey begins with a single step… that’s not a cliché, that’s Zen. And we have great respect for small and first-time buyers because they will be our regular clients in later years.
Often, these buyers are just beginning their businesses and making sales through Ebay, their own websites, local flea markets, party plans and so on.
Their budget will be from US$1,000 to US$2,000.00 including shipping and, when successful, they will order at least two or three times more during the course of one sales year. Typically, our small buyers will ship by Courier, Air or LCL.
As wooden handicrafts, Balinese furniture and Javanese and Lombok Pottery tend to be bulky, heavy and fragile, they cannot be cost-effectively shipped by these methods. In fact, when we know a customer is planning to ship less than a container load out of Bali, we push quite hard for them to avoid these products and, in many cases, we advise we cannot guarantee these products will arrive in perfect condition.
Typically, small and first-time importers of Balinese products tend to focus on the following lines:

- Wooden, Shell & other fashion (costume or non-precious) jewelry
- Paintings
- Masks
- Wall Art
- Cushion Covers
- Souvenirs

Often, these customers will focus on stock and quickly produced items. Most of the above will either be available immediately or can be produced, quality controlled and shipped within two weeks of placing an order. One of Bali’s great advantages over places like China, Malaysia and the Philippines is that the small, wholesale buyer can order relatively small quantities of each product line for a shipment. That means that even though you’re only spending US$2,000.00, you might actually be dealing with 50 or more different product lines, handmade by 50 or more different crafters and artisans.
Shop and Small Business Owners buying Wholesale Balinese Products
Our shop and small business clients have at least one store and have already developed a clear understanding of what their customers need in terms of product quality, range and pricing. Often, these buyers will visit us every year at least once to see new products, new trends and new suppliers. A shop or small business owner is usually established enough to plan their purchases at least three to four months in advance and will always choose a container as that is the most cost-effective method of shipping (again, please read through our page on shipping cost-effectively for a clear breakdown on shipping). Just as in the example of the first time buyer of Balinese crafts, Bali has a huge advantage for the shop owner in that you don’t need to order huge amounts per model to make your orders. One container might carry thousands of different products in hundreds of different lines made by hundreds of different Indonesian factories, producers and suppliers of handmade goods. In a sense, each container shipped might represent a full shop inventory. Typically, shop and small business owners buying wholesale from Bali will tend to focus on:
- Themed and related items like Buddha products, primitive, animal or sealife products
- Impulse and small purchases
- Homeware
- Small, occasional or quirky furniture items
Professional Buyers and Large Clients working in Bali with Indonesia Export
Our professional buyers and large clients tend to not order so much from our catalogue. They have their own designs and production needs. Often, their buying plans are set six months to a year in advance. They’re ordering thousands of one particular model designed, produced and packed exclusively for their own catalogues. At this level our work tends to be more strategic sourcing and production with a heavy emphasis on quality management, quality control, production deadlines and logistics. That said, every buyer who comes to work with us in Bali also has an eye open for the tactical purchase – a container load of resin figures, an over production run of teak garden chairs, a new style of windchime or a particular type of fountain can easily become the next big purchase.
